Hallune · the paperwork
Terms of Service
These are the terms for using Hallune: an app where you talk with AI companions who remember you. They are written to be read rather than skimmed.
Draft: under legal review. This is a draft written so the final wording has somewhere to go. Nothing in it is in force yet, and it is not something anybody has agreed to. Lines marked [JEREMY TO CONFIRM] or [Placeholder] are still to be filled in.
01
Who can use this app
Hallune is for adults of 18 or over. By using it you are saying that you are an adult, and the app asks you to confirm your age before it introduces you to any companion. Age is checked through Persona, an identity-verification provider; the app asks Persona only whether you are over 18.
[JEREMY TO CONFIRM: any country-specific age rules.]
02
Your account
One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has used it. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
[Placeholder: how to report a compromised account, and the contact address.]
03
What the companions are
Every companion is an AI: a fictional adult with a made-up life, not a person, and not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, financial adviser or emergency service. They can be wrong, they can misremember, and what they say is not advice. Ask them and they will tell you plainly that they are AI. Every chat carries an AI label, and the app reminds you that you are talking with an AI at the start of each day’s chatting and again every three hours while you keep going.
04
Looking after yourself and other people
The Community Rules are part of these terms. The app watches for signs that somebody may be under 18 and pauses romantic features on that account until a person has reviewed it, and a message about serious self-harm is answered with real support lines for the country the person is in. How that works is set out on the Crisis protocol page. In Australia, if you or somebody else is in danger right now, call 000.
05
Your content
What you write, and the pictures and clips made for you, are yours. We hold and process them to run the app: so a companion can remember you, so the pictures you ask for can be made, and so safety checks and moderation can happen.
[Placeholder: whether anything may be used to improve models, and the licence wording that goes with it.]
06
Credits and payment
Credits are an in-app allowance, not money: they are not transferable, not redeemable for cash, and they have no value outside the app. Friendships and closeness never depend on them.
[Placeholder: prices, renewal and cancellation, refunds, taxes, and what happens to unused credits.]
07
The testing period
The app is in private testing, so features change, things break, and some parts are open to a limited number of people while they are being tried. Where it makes sense, we will say what is being tested.
08
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion clears your personal app records: companions, chats, memories, stories, lives, relationships, gifts, credits and your profile. Anonymous usage totals, a deletion audit entry and limited safety records may remain as explained in the Privacy Policy. Stored files, provider records and backups may follow separate retention rules. We may also pause or close an account that breaks these terms or the Community Rules.
[Placeholder: anything local law requires us to keep, for how long, and the process for an appeal.]
09
What the app is not liable for
The app is provided as it is, and we are not responsible for decisions somebody makes on the strength of a conversation with a companion. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you cannot give up where you live.
[Placeholder: the final liability, warranty and consumer-law wording.]
10
Governing law and contact
Hallune is run by [JEREMY TO CONFIRM: legal entity name] (ABN [JEREMY TO CONFIRM: ABN]), [JEREMY TO CONFIRM: registered address], Australia. These terms are governed by the law of [JEREMY TO CONFIRM: state or territory], Australia, and disputes go to the courts there. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Legal notices: [JEREMY TO CONFIRM: contact email].
[JEREMY TO CONFIRM: legal entity name, ABN, registered address, governing state or territory and the contact email. Final wording to be checked by a lawyer.]
11
Changes to these terms
When the wording changes we will say so on this page, and where a change matters we will tell people before it takes effect.
[Placeholder: how much notice is given, and how people are told.]
